3 months since last update...

Very overwhelmed lately. Couldn't enjoy the process of drawing at all.
Andddd I failed some of my goals for 2023.
That was embarrassing. It's a cycle alternating between highly productive and procrastination. It's reassuring that it wasn't too long this time.

Let's pick it back up! I will need to be more careful with taking commissions. (I did like 6 complex commissions back to back and it drained the hell out of me) Should also take some sketch and light commission as a breather

Work and Art

Commission

the scope for this commission is too big. I heavily underestimated the enormous amount of tasks for this kind of commissions. But it's almost done!!

Unlearning

  • Unlearning is inevitable🌱
    • I still retain a lot of bad habit when I was a beginner. Back then I mainly draw 3/4 angle, as a result I had a really hard time to draw front view. It always skews towards the 3/4 angle.
    • I was thinking if I could ever avoid Unlearning in the first place? How could I know if a piece of knowledge is right and wrong to avoid absorbing it in the first place.
    • For now, I think Unlearning is inevitable, and it is a good skill to learn. however it is certainly possible to partly mitigate it by seeking high quality courses and by being more critical.

Getting rusty

  • I took 3 weeks off from daily practicing to focus on rendering the commission and my hand forget how to draw and line. I was so scared but after sketching for a while, it started to feel natural again.

Where to migrate

Now that Twitter is unstable now, I was thinking about where to post

  • I'm very reluctant on pixiv since their stance on AI is not clear, but I guess with my poor reach I don't have a choice but to post there. I'll have to glaze my stuffs.
  • I will support other platforms more openly, like xfolio and cara

Inspiration

  • One Piece live action is coming soon! I really like the casts and the set design. Hopefully the script won't be too bad.
  • New Akebi chapters. Erika's aura is just too strong, her outfit for the drama and the gesture when she's playint the piano is just mesmerizing.

  • PUNCH's design for Mika Pikazo artbook
