Good progress, some fun rendering time and some difficult graphic design time.
I can see the end in sight!
Sketches
Suisei fanart, been enjoying her music recently
hand study, I'm starting to see the strong relation of constructive and gesture drawing
without construction, it's really hard to visualize the position of any given curves in space
without gesture, it turns into blocky, stiff and unappealing shape
the point is to draw gestural curve but still aware of its nearest constructive equivalent.
this week's Abstract Scribble🌱
the green part is a new discovery for me! Turns out rounded losange shape and low density (flow in photoshop) can create that kind of pleasing gradual falloff. I used ellipse shape before.
from that line of thinking, I also discovered that star shape produces a much stronger falloff. Potentially useful for lighting "laser" effect
I really love his realization when looking at his past artworks. Really strong and emotional page.
The bits about his personality worsened after facing shaming and failure is incredibly spot on. That kind of stuffs is just soul crushing
However, I don't like how his practice is just a montage, kinda feels like his success comes too easily.
I'm an avid shounen jump reader but its release schedule is always after I write a blog entry.
Random stuffs
I just added a 35" TV to my desk setup. Color is all wrong as it is a consumer grade TV, but it is useful for non-color reference.
I added a page Seeds Storage as a collection of short ideas that I want to expand.
RSS feed is a nightmare to manage. If I want it to be useful I might have to do some more setup
Recently I found Artifact, a newsreader app by Instagram founders.
It is similar to Google News For you tab but I think it's more user friendly. There should be more categories though.
That said, one of the goal for this year is to limit passive input so I won't put that much time into newsreader, just enough so I don't miss out anything important (FOMO screaming)
On the topic of passive inspiration, I should unfollow all repost ("aesthetic") page that don't give credit to the original source.
I should also use Pinterest with extreme discretion, try to find the source when I add them to my library
Favorite Art of the week
I want to put neco's art here again this week but let's not do that
As mentioned last week, Macro Rendering🌱 is occupying my mind now so I really like artist who manage it well~
the big folds on the sleeves, the smooth transition of the hair. Big shapes, surrounded by smaller shapes, there are tapering quality in every shapes too.
